Survey Crosstabs

Welcome!

The Introduction to Sociology Survey crosstabs are your results, laid out in tables for each question. The questions and their abbreviations are as follows:

current: I discuss current events with my family or friends.

women: Do you strongly agree/somewhat agree/somewhat disagree/strongly disagree with the following statement:
"Women should be permitted to serve in military combat equally with men."

 

iserve: "I would be willing to serve in military combat."

racial: "Law enforcement agencies should be allowed to use RACIAL profiling to screen against foreign and domestic terrorism."

gender: "Law enforcement agencies should be allowed to use GENDER profiling to screen against foreign and domestic terrorism."

localpol: "Do you favor or oppose the mandatory registration of all firearms owned by private citizens where the registration information is held by:A. local township police"

statepol: where the registration information is held by:state police

fbi: where the registration information is held by:FBI

doj:where the registration information is held by:The Department of Justice

dhs:where the registration information is held by:Dept. of Homeland Security

sex: respondent is male or female

agegroup: 18-25, or 26 plus

race: self-reported race of respondent

ptft: whether the respondent is part-time or full-time student

bachelor: whether the respondent will pursue a bachelor's degree

children: whether the respondent has children or not

Go on to the page to see survey results. There are many of them, cross tabulated for each characteristic of the respondents, with their answers to the survey.  Choose those that you want to analyze, and write why you think the results came out the way they did. For example, why did women  overwhelmingly agree that "women should be allowed to serve in military combat" but disagree that "I would be willing to serve in military combat"?   Choose as many of the cross tabs as you think are important. Write your analysis of the survey as though you were making a report to the person who commissioned the survey, giving them results of all the questions for their information.
 

Good luck with your analysis! Your final report is due on or before Dec. 16, 2002.  NO LATE REPORTS WILL BE ACCEPTED!!!!! The report is worth up to 25 points towards your total grade.
